The World Series Trophy

Presented to the team winning the World Series Championship.

    The Miller Huggins Award

    Presented to the team posting the best overall record in the FFBL, as determined by won-lost percentages. Award named for Miller Huggins, manager of the 1927 New York Yankees.

    The Ban Johnson Trophy

    Presented to the team winning the American League Championship Series. Award named for the first American League president, Ban Johnson.

    The William Hulbert Trophy

    Presented to the team winning the National League Championship Series. Award named for the first National League president, William Hulbert.

    The Glenn Waggoner Award

    New for 2237; Presented to the team whose statistics in the ten traditional "rotisserie categories" (Average, Hits, Home Runs, Runs Batted In, Stolen Bases, Wins, Saves, Earned Run Average, Strikeouts and Ratio) ranks the highest of all FFBL teams. Named after the most noted of the Original Rotisserie League owners, Glenn Waggoner.

    PERFORMANCE AWARDS

    The Silver Bat Award

    Awarded to the player posting the highest eligible batting average in each league. To be eligible, a player must have a minimum of 3.1 at-bats per scheduled games, rounded down to the nearest whole number. In 2237, this was 503 AB. A player who has at least 3 plate appearances per scheduled games (486 PA) may be eligible for the batting title, but their average for purposes of determining the championship shall be reduced by increasing their at-bats to the minimum required number. Batting average is determined by dividing safe base hits by times at bat. Award named for the silver-embossed bat given to the winners. (Not really, of course.)

    The Louisville Slugger Award

    Awarded to the player posting the highest eligible slugging percentage in each league. Eligibility is the same as for the Silver Bat Award. Slugging Percentage is determined by taking the number of total bases by times at bat. Total Bases are calculated by adding the number of safe base hits to the number of doubles, plus two times the number of triples, plus three times the number of home runs. Award named for the bat made by Hillerich and Bradsby of Louisville, Kentucky.

    The Roger Maris Award

    Awarded to the player hitting the most home runs in each league. Award named for the first player to hit more than 60 home runs in a single season.

    The Rick Arnold Award

    Awarded to any player who hits 70 or more home runs in a single season. Award named for Rick Arnold, who hit 70 or more home runs several times while playing for the Procyon Pulsars.

    The Joe DiMaggio Award

    New for 2236; Awarded to the player collecting the longest hitting streak in either league. Award named for Joe DiMaggio, who collected the longest hitting streak in major league history in 1941, hitting safely in 56 consecutive games.

    The Hack Wilson Award

    Awarded to the player driving in the most runs in each league (otherwise known as "runs batted in"). Award named for Hack Wilson of the Chicago Cubs, who drove in 190 runs in the 1930 season.

    The Tracey Scharles Silver Spikes Award

    Awarded to the player credited with stealing the most bases in each league. Award named for Tracey Scharles, the first player to steal 162 bases in a single season.

    The Rusty Nail Award

    Awarded to the player who is caught stealing the most times in each league. Award originated as a "Kangaroo Court" award from the Procyon Pulsars clubhouse, but after Tracey Scharles won this honor in conjunction with her Silver Spikes Award in 2219, she insisted it be elevated to a league-wide trophy. It has been awarded annually ever since.)

    The Eric Helms Award

    New Award for 2236; Awarded to the player who reached first most often on Catcher's Interference in each league. In case of ties, the player with the most games played gets the award. Named for the first player to be awarded first on Catcher's interference in the FFBL.

    The Bill James Award

    New Award for 2236; Awarded to the player who creates the most runs as per Bill James' Runs Created Formula. The formula is composed of three parts:

  • A = H + BB + HB - CS - GIDP
  • B = TB + .26(BB + HB - IW) + .52(SH + SF + SB
  • C = AB + BB + HB + SH + SF

    Runs Created is simply A times B, divided by C. Award named for Bill James, noted Sabermetrician of the late 20th Century, who developed this formula.

    The Jack Chesbro Award

    Awarded to the pitcher who posts the most net wins as compared to the number of games lost (or, games above .500). Pitchers posting identical records are both given the award. Award named for Jack Chesbro, then of the New York Highlanders, who posted 41 wins with 12 losses in a single season. This total was more than any other pitcher since the pitching distance was moved to 60 feet, 6 inches in 1893.

    The Bob Gibson Award

    Awarded to the pitcher posting the lowest eligible earned run average in each league. To be eligible, a pitcher must have completed one inning pitched per scheduled game. For 2236, this total is 162 IP. Award named for Bob Gibson of the St. Louis Cardinals, who posted a 1.12 ERA in 1968, the lowest in the major leagues since the 162-game schedule.

    The Nolan Ryan Award

    Awarded to the pitcher who strikes out the most batters in each league. Award named after Nolan Ryan of the California Angels, who struck out 383 batters in 1973, the most since 1893.

    The Luis Tiant Award

    New Award for 2236; Awarded to the pitcher who posts the lowest eligible opponent batting average in each league. Eligibility is the same as for the Bob Gibson Award. Opponent Batting Average is figured by dividing the number of safe hits allowed by the pitcher by the number of at-bats against the pitcher. Award named for Luis Tiant, who posted the lowest opponent batting average in major league history, with.168 in 1968.

    The Fireman Of The Year Award

    Awarded to the relief pitcher who collects the most relief points in each league. In case of a tie between two pitchers with the same number of relief points, the award will be given to the pitcher with the greater number of saves, then the greater number of wins. Relief Points shall be determined by adding three times the number of saves to twice the number of wins, and subtracting twice the number of losses, and then subtracting twice the number of blown saves. This is a new method of computing the award for 2236.

    The Charlie Brown Award

    New award for 2237, in honor of the Peanuts gang. Awarded to the pitcher deemed by the way of most games under .500, highest ERA and highest RATIO over a minimum of 162 innings pitched, to be the worst pitcher in the league.

    The Golden Glove Awards

    New Award for 2236; Awarded to the player at each defensive position posting the best qualifying Exceptional Fielding Percentage in each league. Exceptional Fielding Percentage is determined by dividing exceptional fielding outs from total exceptional fielding play attempts. Exceptional fielding plays are determined by the playing board of Strat-O-Matic baseball, and are automatically tallied in this game. To qualify, a fielder must tally one exceptional fielding play for every 3 scheduled games by his team. In 2237, this is 54 plays. For pitchers, the requirement is simply 10 or more exceptional fielding plays. Catchers' percentages are figured to subtract passed balls from the exceptional fielding outs, and are averaged with stolen base percentage against.

Named for Jackie Robinson, the first player to be named as Rookie of the Year in major league baseball.
